About Perivale Library
Perivale Library opened in 1938, in response to the rapidly growing population of Perivale in the 1930s as the area quickly developed from a village and fields into a busy suburb. This was driven by the opening of the Sanderson Wallpaper Factory in 1929 and the Hoover Factory in 1932, which provided considerable local employment. The library is on land that was acquired by Sanderson but gifted to the local authority for a public library.
Perivale Community Hive is a community managed library (CML) registered charity (charitable incorporated organisation). It was set up to enable the Perivale community to take over management of Perivale Library from Ealing Council and to prevent the Library’s closure. Perivale Community Hive is run by and for local residents living in and near Perivale who have a passion for improving local quality of life, amenity and community cohesion.
Perivale Library reopened as a CML under the management of Perivale Community Hive in April 2021.
